LearnPad is particularly suited to use in Special Educational Needs due mainly to its touch sensitive screen and its unique secure
student interface. Many SEN activities lend themselves well to touchscreen devices and LearnPad is ideal.
As it supports flash based
software, with many great applications available free online, LearnPad easily replaces bulky PCs and engages students much more effectively.
Also, teaching staff can pre-configure LearnPad with SEN specific content or applications appropriate for different students, from the online
management and configuration portal and quickly deploy this content to any LearnPad. Android applications as well as standalone flash programs
can be deployed to LearnPad very easily.
AAC Speech
LearnPad now has it's own AAC Speech application, turning it into a powerful, low cost communicator. Using internationally recognised symbols
from SymbolStix, Avantis has launched a text to speech symbol based communications application aimed at non verbal or speech impaired individuals.
LearnPads AAC Speech application has a unique web based portal to allow the configuration
of speech sets and speech boards. These can be applied to unique profiles and deployed to multiple LearnPads, providing and simple and effective
way to manage different student requirements from one central location.
SEN Content
As well as the AAC Application, specific SEN content from industry leading software companies is available for LearnPad.
These applications are designed to address specific areas of SEN teaching, such as cause and effect, timing, memory, creativity and behavioural education.
LearnPad also supports online flash based SEN activities and popular websites such as www.helpkidzlearn.com
and www.special-needs-software.co.uk
SEN Accessories
LearnPad also has a complete range of accessories, including specific wheelchair mounts and cases to secure the LearnPad to desk and tables.
